Food at Brymore

Napoleon Bonaparte famously said that “an army marches on its stomach”.   So do our boys.

Our in-house catering team work tirelessly to provide the boys with a delicious, nutritious and balanced diet to ensure they are getting the fuel they need to sustain them through their busy and active days.  In addition, we invite guest nutritionists to the school to talk to the boys about the importance of eating a healthy diet so that they can make informed choices

Our menus are kept seasonal and, wherever possible, the catering team source produce from our own school – meat from the farm and vegetables from Horticulture.

Feedback is essential and regular, half-termly meetings between the catering team and student representatives from each of the boarding houses, as well as members of the SSLT (Student Senior Leadership Team), means that menus reflect not only what the boys should be eating but what they enjoy eating.  In addition, regular tasting tables ensure the boys are encouraged to try new foods.

For both lunch and supper (for the boarders), the boys have the choice of up to four courses, from homemade soup and a roll, a main hot meal to follow and then a pudding. In addition, there is always a pasta/baked potato bar with options for toppings and a daily salad bar, which is varied and always contains a protein component – ideal for our sporty boys!  Boarders also enjoy a hearty and nutritious choice of breakfast menus to ensure they start the day on a full stomach.

Balanced diet and good nutrition are really important to us and we invite guest nutritionists to the school to talk to the boys about the importance of eating a healthy diet so that they can make informed choices, whilst being guided by boarding staff and caterers.
