Dear Old Brymorians
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Old Brymorians Association (OBA).
Since Brymore was founded in 1952, there have been several attempts to establish a lasting Old Boys’ Association. Today, I am delighted to say that, 18 years into its current form, the OBA is thriving, with more than 500 members — a wonderful testament to the enduring spirit and friendships of Brymore.
Our purpose is simple: to keep Old Brymorians connected, support Brymore and its pupils, and give something back to the school that has given so much to us.
Through subscriptions, our annual Summer Draw and the generosity of members and supporters, the OBA has raised more than £180,000 since 2005 to help provide financial assistance to boys who might otherwise struggle to attend Brymore. We have also supported a wide range of projects around the school, from beehives and the Walled Garden to learning resources, a chicken house and equipment for water-based activities.
We are particularly pleased to offer Student Membership to Year 11 leavers, giving them three years of OBA membership while they remain in full-time education — helping the next generation of Old Brymorians stay connected from the moment they leave.
Membership is about much more than fundraising. Through our annual Spur magazine, website and regular events, we celebrate life at Brymore, share the achievements of Old Boys and, most importantly, maintain the friendships and sense of belonging that make being a Brymorian so special.
We look forward to seeing you at the Brymore Open Day and Country Fair, our AGM and social evening, and especially at the revived Pym’s Night Supper each October — a fantastic occasion celebrating Brymore produce, fellowship and good company.
None of this would be possible without the commitment of our OBA Committee, the support of Old Brymorians, their families and friends, and the wonderful hospitality of the staff at Brymore. To everyone who has played a part, thank you.
I hope you enjoy exploring our website and discovering more about the OBA. If you are not yet a member, I warmly encourage you to join us. The more Old Brymorians who get involved, the stronger our Association becomes.
Finally, please help us keep in touch. If your email address, postal address or bank details change, let us know. Good communication is vital to keeping the OBA connected — and helps us keep postal costs down by sharing more information electronically.
Once a Brymore Boy, always a Brymore Boy.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Best wishes
Ollie Mahon
